Laguna Art Museum hosted its annual Open House and Volunteer Recognition Reception on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Over 200 people attended the event which included a video montage recapping 2011-2012 at the museum and announcing museum plans for 2012-2013, an introduction of new members of the Board of Trustees, and a presentation recognizing outstanding volunteers, including 2012 Volunteer of the Year Dennis Boyer. New Acquisition: Pound Box - A Tableau by George Herms . The museum has received an important assemblage by George Herms from the estate of Dr. John Menkes. Dr. Menkes gifted a large body of work to the museum from the estate of his late wife, Joan Simon Menkes, in 2002. He kept the Herms, but after his death in 2008 his widow decided to give the work to the museum in his honor. She was encouraged in this by noted art dealer Joni Gordon. .
