Richard Faralla 1916-1996 . Born in Brooklyn in 1916, Richard Faralla moved to Los Angeles in the 1930s to study commercial art. Following WWII, he moved to San Francisco, where he graduated from the California School of Fine Arts and remained until his death in 1996. He worked primarily in sculpture, and particularly small reliefs assembled from small scraps of wood later painted white or black. Chris Burden 1946-2015 . Chris Burden studied art, physics, and architecture at Pomona College, earning his BA in 1969. Influenced by undergraduate instructor Mowry Baden, who was interested in phenomenology and the relationship of sculpture to the body, Burden subsequently enrolled at UCI, where he earned his MFA as part of the first graduating cohort in 1971.
