These groups bring together people with similar interests to socialize, study, and support Laguna Art Museum in many different ways. Activities range from educational lectures and artist talks, to travel opportunities with curators. Find the council that matches your interests.
Laguna Beach Film Society
The Laguna Beach Film Society proudly continues its tradition of showcasing independent films and filmmakers. The Film Society searches the world to bring the most current and appealing new films and shorts to Laguna Beach every month. You can see exciting films in a Laguna Beach venue!
Screenings are held the third Thursday of each month and include pre and/or post film receptions. Additional special events include feature documentaries, panel discussions, silent films, and exclusive showings of new releases.
Our audiences are enriched with the artistic insight of directors, actors, and filmmakers who present their ideas in post film discussions. So join us today and do something great for yourself and your community!

For current members, we want you to know that we’re listening and in response to your comments, we’ve made the following changes:
• All regular monthly film screenings will be held at South Coast Cinema Theater (located on Coast Highway) in Laguna Beach.
• Pre- and post-screening receptions will be held in the third floor community room of the Wells Fargo Bank on Ocean Street in Laguna Beach.
• Only Society members and their guests will be invited to these receptions.
As before, member registration and wine and hors d’oeuvres will
begin at 6 pm. Screenings will begin at 7 pm, and post-film discussion
and coffee will take place immediately after the screenings.

Docent Corps
Members of the Laguna Art Museum Docent Corps provide tours for visitors and school groups and serve as ambassadors of art within the Museum. The docents seek to engage and enlighten Museum visitors by conducting interactive tours and gallery activities, as well as working within the community to help increase an understanding about visual arts.
Tours offered at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday starting one week after exhibitions open.

Bohemian Club
Laguna Art Museum’s Bohemian Club is a group of men and women that
gather together on the fourth Monday every other month at either a
local restaurant or club member’s home to talk about art and the
happenings at Laguna Art Museum. Bohemian Club members enjoy special
guest speakers at each luncheon, along with the company of Museum
Director, Bolton Colburn. The Bohemian club often goes on at least one
trip during the year to explore special exhibitions at other museums.
Bohemian Club dues for 1 year are $25 per household.
Prices for the luncheons or trips are separate from the annual dues and vary from month to month.

Historical Art Council
In the spirit of the Laguna Beach Art Association and all the early artists of Laguna Beach, the Historical Art Council seeks to expand the appreciation and scholarship of historical art, especially in the period before 1950. The Historical Art Council affords you access to unique private collections, special exhibitions, art openings, and educational lectures, and other subjects of interest to art aficionados.
Council membership begins at $125 for individuals and $175 for families (good for two people). Join at the $500 patron level and make an invaluable contribution to support the mission of the council and enjoy priority access to all Historical Art Council events.

Business Council

The mission of the Laguna Art Museum Business Council is to promote partnerships between the arts and businesses while strengthening both groups and the communities they share. Laguna Beach has long been recognized as an artist community; with Laguna Art Museum acting as the flagship. By advocating closer ties between businesses and the arts, Laguna Art Museum and the Business Council provide support for local arts and education programming, promote community involvement, and build reciprocal relationships between all organizations involved.

Contemporary Collectors' Council
The Contemporary Collectors' Council organizes four to six art trips per year. Each trip includes a combination of tours of museum exhibitions, artist studio visits, galleries, and visiting private collection2s, along with a delicious lunch.
The Contemporary Collectors' Council’s membership is open to all members of the Museum and dues are used to purchase contemporary artwork and to support exhibitions for Laguna Art Museum. Over the years, works by Laddie John Dill, Bruce Conner, Robert Arneson, Lita Albuquerque, Tony Oursler, Amy Myers, and Travis Somerville have been donated to the museum by the Contemporary Collectors' Council.
The CCC has organized trips to Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, and others cities in the region. In 2004, the council traveled to New York City for a week during which the Whitney Biennial and Dia:Beacon were the center attractions of the trip. For its national trip in 2005, the CCC traveled to Florida for the Art Basel Miami art fair.
CCC membership is $100.

Flower Council
The Flower Council is seeking volunteers to help arrange flowers for events and exhibition openings. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Derry Coe.
Arts Council
The Arts Council is a support group of the Laguna Art Museum as well and provides educational experiences for members and the community. Membership in the organization is open to former and current Laguna Art Museum docents who are members of the museum. If you are interested in joining the Arts Council, please contact Barbara Hillman.
