Alfredo de Batuc

b. 1950

The Los Angeles-based artist Alfredo de Batuc was born in Mexico in 1950, and studied at the Academia de Artes Plasticas in Mexico. As a painter, his work is often layered in visual and allegorical complexity, attained through layers of colors which form a rich surface and philosophical, political, spiritual, and erotic symbolism. The city of Los Angeles is an important motif in his work, and the Los Angeles City Hall is a recurrent subject in his paintings.
