Adam Mars’s work has ranged from meticulously crafted portraits to poignant social commentaries. He earned a BFA from UC Santa Barbara in 2003 and an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 2007. Since then his work has been featured in publications such as Juxtapoz, Interview, and the Los Angeles Times, and displayed at various institutions throughout California, including Laguna Art Museum and the Torrance Museum of Art. In 2014 he designed a billboard for LAXART’s LA Public Domain Project on La Cienega Boulevard. Mars’s use of mock brickwork creates a sense of urban context for the quips he puts forth in his wry inscriptions. His hope is to touch on big issues of culture and morality through humor. He is based in Los Angeles and represented by the Gusford Gallery.
