Danny Heller was born in Northridge, California, and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. He earned a BA in Art, with an emphasis in painting, from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he studied under California landscape painter Hank Pitcher. After formative years spent capturing the Santa Barbara surf-scape, he established a studio in Chatsworth and now concentrates on chronicling modern American imagery, focusing on the architecture and car culture of Southern California. The title Swiss Miss and Mountains plays on the name of the famous cocoa brand, with “Swiss” referring to the chalet-like lines of the house as well as its setting against the mountains.
