Born in Southern California, Dave Lefner received a BA in Art from California State University, Northridge, where he developed his love of German Expressionist prints and Picasso’s linocuts. Working with the imagery of vintage motels, storefronts, and classic cars, Lefner seeks to document and help preserve the West Coast way of life. His chosen medium, reduction linocut, is a labor-intensive process achieved in multiple carving and printing stages. He has lived and worked for the last sixteen years at The Brewery in Downtown Los Angeles, the world’s largest artists’ colony.

“More intrigued by mid-century modern than the present, homogenized, pixilated world, I search for the beauty of a time gone by … I daydream myself into a slower-paced, nostalgic America, where craftsmanship and design come together.”
– Dave Lefner
