Trained in the classical realist tradition, Southern California native Elizabeth McGhee graduated from Laguna College of Art and Design in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting. She studied privately with master painter Lance Richlin and has also studied with Marc Trujillo, Sergio Sanchez, John Brosio, and Jason Dowd. She has exhibited at the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach since 2010. Characteristically, her painting Looking Up To combines humor and charm with an observation about human relationships, here that of a master and disciple.

“I often turn to humor to address serious or controversial subjects in my artwork. With my still life paintings of toys I am examining how symbols are interpreted by individuals and through the lens of cultural dogma. My intention is not to promote a particular concept or ideal, but to inspire analysis and contemplation in my viewers.”
