As an artist, lecturer, and writer, Jacques Garnier has created a large body of work focused on urban redistribution in the American landscape, typically recording the vestiges of populations gone and all–too-quickly forgotten. He continues to explore disappearing landscapes and man’s relationship to his environment as president of The Legacy Project, a fifteen-year documentation of shuttered military bases. These are also the themes of his series Second Chances, an exploration of land use and migration in the Mojave Desert, and Non-Places, which looks at our disconnection from people and places in modern society. At the same time, as illustrated by Everything You Can Think of Is True, Garnier is a talented exponent of more abstract forms of photography. The title of the work is borrowed from a song by Tom Waits.
