Born in East Amherst, New York, Kelsey Irvin has been an artist since childhood. She studied at St. Lawrence University, majoring in Fine Arts, Environmental Studies, and Psychology. In much of her work she strives to express her response to nature and the environment, inviting the viewer on continuing, colorful journeys. Collaged compositions such as the Carpe Diem Series (“Seize the Day Series”) are rooted in her practice of collecting traces of lives lived—old letters, vintage matchbooks, boxes of aging papers. “Using vintage ephemera in my work,” she says, “is a way to pay homage to those memories, those lives.” Irvin’s paintings are in private and public collections throughout the United States, as well as in Italy, Dubai, Greece, Singapore, and China.
