Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Mia Moore moved to California to pursue an advanced degree in art with an emphasis in printmaking. She holds a BFA from Whittier College and has studied Design and Architecture at the University of California, Irvine, and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She has been working in mixed media for more than twenty years, drawn to the delicate and fragile nature of old paper. She exhibits her work at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts, among other venues throughout the West.

Combining old and new, Moore uses antique and handmade papers with the addition of ink, acrylic paint, stains, and gold leaf. She seeks out materials during her annual travels to Asia, especially materials made by hand and without the use of chemicals. She states: “The influence of Asia and the adoption of my daughter from Korea in 1986, has deepened my appreciation of eastern philosophy and greatly influenced my sense of design.”
