The museum opens its doors for free to visitors of all ages and offers a variety of interactive art, nature, and science activities, environmental information booths, and face painting.


Thought Pattern Drawings
Create intricate drawings inspired by the work of artist Elizabeth Turk, whose work is on display at the museum in a special exhibition..
Landscape Collages
Create your own collage inspired by landscape paintings on view in the museum.
  Aquarium on Wheels
The Aquarium of the Pacific’s mobile aquarium provides the opportunity to examine and touch friendly ocean animals.
The aquarium will be located in the parking lot next to the Royal Hawaiian, on Pacific Coast Highway, less than one block north of the museum.
  Sea Life Game
Laguna Bluebelt hosts a game about sea life complete with prizes.
  Making Hovercrafts
The Discovery Cube invites participants to learn about the importance of reusing rather than discarding used materials by making a hovercraft from a CD, a bottle top, and a balloon.
  Ocean Habitat Stamp Art
Pacific Marine Mammal Center and Laguna Ocean Foundation present an ocean habitat stamp art project.
  Live Owls and Hawks
Interact with live owls and hawks from the Orange County Bird of Prey Center..
  Scavenger Hunt
Join in an adventurous scavenger hunt with the Ritz-Carlton’s Eco-Adventure Center.
  Plant a Pot
Join seeds for a planting activity and take home your very own potted seed.
My Hero promotes ECO-Heroism and environmental awareness through creative art projects and multimedia.
Face Painting
Face painting artists from Tickled Pink decorate the faces of children of all ages.


ExplorOcean is dedicated to educating K-12 students about the seven principles of Ocean Literacy.
Laguna Ocean Foundation protects the beaches, intertidal zone, watersheds, and ocean waters of Laguna Beach.
  Newport Bay Conservancy is focused on the conservation and restoration of Upper Newport Bay.
  Surfrider Foundation protects the oceans, waves, and beaches for the enjoyment of all.
