Bradford Salamon began working as a professional illustrator as a young man, and by the early 1990s also owned and operated his own commercial art galleries in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. As his art developed, he continued to study traditional techniques of the Old Masters and began working almost exclusively in oil on canvas, focusing on portraiture though occasionally painting the California landscape. Recently he has expanded his repertoire to include portraits of characterful old objects such as this vintage typewriter. Painting from a live sitter, photograph, or forgotten artifact are energizing sources of inspiration for him.
