An Event 100 Years in the Making
This once-in-a-lifetime event will celebrate Laguna Art Museum’s one hundred year legacy in grand style featuring cuisine by Chef Ben Martinek of Studio, joined by chefs Amar Santana and Craig Strong, dancing, and world-class entertainment.
Guests will be treated to a voyage through major milestones in California art, starting with the historical California painters of the early 1900s such as William Wendt, Anna Hills, and Edgar Payne. Dinner will be infused with the aesthetics of modernist works by artists such as Helen Lundeberg and John McLaughlin. Finally, we will dance the night away under the influence of the light and space movement, exemplified by artists such as Peter Alexander, Lita Albuquerque and James Turrell.
The evening’s entertainment will include celebrity MCs Chuck Henry and Fritz Coleman; music by The Gatsbys, The Tony Guerrero Quintet and special guests, and Soulcirque; and a performance by the anonymous artists The Bumbys.

About Chef Benjamin Martinek
Benjamin Martinek is the chef de cuisine of Studio, Montage Laguna Beach’s highly recognized signature restaurant. With over 10 years of experience at award-winning restaurants, resorts, and hotels, Martinek oversees all culinary operations for Studio. Over the last seven years, he has served on Montage Laguna Beach’s culinary team as a cook at Studio, executive sous chef at The Loft, and then as sous chef at Studio. Previously, Martinek worked as chef de partie at Raya at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel and at Cortez and Jardinière, both in San Francisco. He holds an associate degree from California Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu, San Francisco.
About Chef Amar Santana
In 2012, Chef Amar Santana opened his widely successful flagship restaurant, Broadway By Amar Santana in Laguna Beach. His delicious menu includes unexpected flavors and artful presentations, reflecting his zeal for food and life. Santana has garnered countless praise-worthy articles and acclaim, among them: Orange Coast Magazine’s Top Ten Chef’s of 2012; OC Metro’s Best Chef’s in Orange County; OC Weekly’s Best Restaurant of 2012; and, a place on the Open Table Hottest Restaurant List.
About Chef Craig Strong
Craig Strong is Chef and Owner of Ocean at Main, the culmination of over 20 years of distinguished experience. The restaurant will open in Laguna Beach this fall with chef-driven, seasonally changing dishes that highlight pristine ingredients. Chef Strong was the executive chef for nine years at Studio at Montage Laguna Beach, where he helped the restaurant garner Five Stars from Forbes. Previously, under Chef Strong’s helm, the now-called The Langham Huntington in Pasadena earned a Michelin star for two consecutive years. Earlier in his career, Strong cheffed at The Arts Hotel in Barcelona and The Ritz-Carlton in Buckhead, Georgia, and served as sous chef at Glitretind Restaurant at Stein Erikson Lodge in Deer Valley, Utah. He studied at L’Academie de Cuisine in Washington, D.C.
