About the artist

Christine Nguyen’s fascination with the sea traces back to growing up with her father, who was a fisherman in coastal California. She combines a variety of media and photographic processes, creating multi-layered forms that move freely from representation to abstraction. Natural elements like trees and rivers and whimsical animals share space with fanciful boats and villages, all of which seem to exist in a universe with its own secret logic and energy. “My work is a form of utopia where everything connects and everything is recycled.”

Nguyen received her BFA in photography from California State University, Long Beach, and her MFA in Studio Art from University of California, Irvine.  Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
