What's It All About?

Join us at Laguna Art Museum this Earth Day April 22nd from 6-9pm for an evening dedicated to protecting whales in their natural environment. Attendees will hear from special guests including Founder of Project O and President of OneWhale Rich German, Marine Mammal Scientist and OneWhale Scientific Advisor Dr. Diana Reiss, OneWhale Director of Policy Courtney Vail, and Filmmaker Regina Crosby who will be previewing her upcoming documentary SpyWhale.

Guests will also be the first to preview a portion of the film installation The Sea Around Us with artist Rebeca Méndez. The Sea Around Us is the featured exhibition for Laguna Art Museum’s 10th annual Art & Nature project that brings together poetic storytelling through footage of individuals and sea life interacting with the ocean interspersed with imagery based on current scientific work being conducted on the sea floor between Southern California and Catalina Island where sea life is being exposed to illegal chemical dumping of DDT.

Ticket sales and donations benefit both OneWhale and Laguna Art Museum’s 2022 Art & Nature. Food and beverage included with ticket.

Tickets: $120 per person

MORE INFORMATION

OneWhale is a non-profit organization founded by filmmaker Regina Crosby, featuring supporters from across Norway and the world who are working to find a safe home for Hvaldimir. The organization’s only mission is to create one of the world’s first marine reserves for whales.

Art & Nature provides a platform for contemporary artists to make connections between art and science by giving them a public platform to create artwork about and within the natural environment. Art & Nature is built upon the more than 100 year tradition of Laguna Art Museum as a center for artwork inspired by our ideal location on the California coast.
