Gisela Colon

Gisela Colon

b. 1966
.
Gisela Colon creates uncannily glowing, shifting effects of light and color in her sculptures by means of a proprietary fabrication process of blow-molding and layering acrylics. It is hard to believe, but there is no light source inside. Colon is part of a younger generation of artists who continue to develop the ideas and techniques of the Light and Space movement that began in California in the 1960s. Colon grew up in Puerto Rico; her mother was a German painter and her father a Puerto Rican scientist. She now lives and works in Los Angeles.
