Helen Pashgian was born in Pasadena, CA in 1934. She studied at Pomona College, Columbia University, and earned her M.A. at Boston University. Pashgian was one of the pioneers of the Light and Space movement, and was among the progressive artists in Los Angeles in the 1960s who explored the use of new industrial materials such as plastic and resin.
