Palette to Palate 2015 Most Successful to Date

Laguna Art Museum’s Palette to Palate fundraiser, which took place at the museum June 12, 2015, grossed approximately $236,000—the museum’s most successful Palette to Palate to date. This is $30,000 more than in 2014 and $85,000 more than in 2013. The museum expects to net $170,000 for its education and exhibition programs. The event’s Fund-A-Need, which raised funds to expand its K-12 school tours program and provide students hands-on art activities, was the most successful ever, raising $47,000 alone. Proceeds from Palette to Palate also ensure that Laguna Art Museum continues its dedication to collecting and preserving California art, and providing high-caliber exhibitions.

This sold out event was the tenth annual presentation of Palette to Palate and was the perfect pairing of art and fine dining. As part of Palette to Palate, ten artists are hand-picked by the museum to design a table amid displays of their works in the Steele Gallery. This year’s event featured the following artists: Casper Brindle, Kimerlee Curyl, Doty/Glasco, Ned Evans, Eric Gerdau, Kenny Harris, Sherry Karver, David McDonald, Eric Nash, and Marcus Thesing. Each artist joined guests for dinner at the table they created, with all their works available for purchase.

The event also showcased the culinary talents of Executive Chef Craig Strong of Studio at Montage, Laguna Beach and Riccardo Olivi of Olivi Wines, who flew in all the way from Italy to personally present their acclaimed Tuscan wines. A live auction with exciting opportunities included a Trip for Four to La Sovana, Italy, the Chef’s Table for 12 at Studio, Private Cellar Collection of Olivi wines, and a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Getty, which further helped raise funds for the museum.

In addition, the evening featured a lively cocktail hour with a gourmet cheese display by Studio, select Olivi wines, and live music by Trio Dinicu. The museum is grateful to all of the generous sponsors of Palette to Palate: Montage, Laguna Beach, Mintie Wine & Spirits, Olivi Wines, Donnie Crevier, ROHL LLC, City National Bank, A. Atelier, formdécor, Riviera magazine, The Getty, and The Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Led by the Palette to Palate committee Peter Blake, Chuck Fry, Sue Greenwood, Sheldon Harte, Bob Hayes, Patricia Houston, Jon Madison, Laura Rohl, Angela Tesselaar, Marnie Wall, and Laguna Art Museum’s Director of Special Events Sarah Strozza, Palette to Palate has become Orange County’s most anticipated art and fine dining experience.

The committee worked closely with local galleries who represent the participating artists. These galleries include Sue Greenwood Fine Art, Peter Blake Gallery William Turner Gallery, Kelsey Michaels Fine Art, CES Gallery, Craig Krull Gallery, Koplin Del Rio, and Skidmore Contemporary Art.
