In addition to being CEO of Savoir Faire, Pierre Yann Guidetti is an art supply distributor and the official voice of Sennelier paints. His presentation will encompass the story of the new book, Sennelier: A History of Color, which chronicles the Sennelier family who, for more than 100 years, invested themselves in the world of colors. The lecture encompasses how color ranges were developed, and how varnishes, canvases, panels, easels, and new tools were created to respond to artists looking for new ideas.
.
Immediately following, Vanessa Rothe will present the instructional lecture “Welcome to Art School.” Rothe is a fine artist, art instructor, author of The Art School Approach to Oils, and California editor of Fine Art Connoisseur magazine. Rothe will discuss the fundamental art concepts taught in fine art schools and used by the plein air painters everyday. Learn what value is and how it helps to suggest volume; discover color mixing including hue, intensity, tinting, and shading; and find out how to create depth in a work using linear and atmospheric perspective. Participating Plein Air Invitational artist Debra Huse will be on hand to demonstrate these various techniques using Sennelier oil paints.
