About the artist
A breast cancer survivor, Moss has long been an advocate for women’s issues, health, and healing through her work. Her use of texture and thick layers of overlapping lines creates a sense of overpowering emotion and sensuality. Moss’s paintings and drawings are held by public and private collections around the world, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Skirball Museum, Laguna Art Museum, and the Robert Rowan Collection. She was recently featured in the Getty publication LA Rising: SO CA Artists Before 1980.

About the work
Environmental disasters, from deluges and earthquakes to events of human creation, are a recurrent theme in Moss’s work. Tsunami Peace was inspired by Japan’s traumatic ocean tragedy, in which the waters washed over the country and knocked out nuclear energy towers.
