Marketing and Public Relations Intern Kelly Wilson recaps last months events and upcoming programming.

The fall is a busy time for Laguna Art Museum. If you have driven down Pacific Coast Highway recently, you will have seen for yourself the changes going on at the museum. Not only did the museum get a facelift with a new coat of white paint, the kitchen and museum store have also been under improvement. The museum was painted just in time for the successful Open House and Volunteer Recognition Reception this past Tuesday, September 25. The Open House featured a video introducing the staff and the programming we have planned for the next year, followed by an award given to Dennis Boyer for Volunteer of the Year. Coming up in two weeks is the 14th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational, a weeklong landscape painting festival focusing on the community, the environment, and art education. As one of the interns I have had the opportunity to assist various departments in the preparation. I can’t wait to see everyone’s hard work pay off at the Invitational!
Although we have so many new and exciting things planned, all good things must come to an end. This Sunday, October 7, is the last day for our current exhibitions, Clarence Hinkle, Modern Spirit and the Group of Eight, ex.pose: peter bo rappmund and 23 Points of View. I encourage you to come experience these exhibitions in their final days. When you visit, be sure to stop by the museum store for our sale on Thursday, October 4 as we prepare for the grand re-opening in November.
As an added bonus, the first two people to comment on this blog post will receive a pair of complimentary museum day passes in order to enjoy not only our current exhibitions but our upcoming ones as well! Just leave your name and email at the end of your comment.
