What's It All About?

Join Jean Stern for overview lecture of the important artists who lived and worked in the San Diego area between 1890 and 1940.  As it was in Los Angeles, Laguna Beach and the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego had its own group of painters who participated in the California Impressionists movement and Modernism.

Among these were Maurice Braun (1877-1941), Alfred Mitchell (1888-1972), Charles A. Fries (1854-1940), Charles Reiffel (1862-1942), Belle Baranceanu (1902-1988) who was in the forefront of Modernism, and several others.

The slide-illustrated lecture features 95 slides and lasts approximately 50 minutes, with time afterwards for questions.
