Docent CorpsThe Docent Corps serve as ambassadors to the arts by providing interactive tours for visitors and school groups. Docents seek to engage museum visitors through discussion about the art in the rotating exhibitions of the museum. Docent Corps members are instructed in a variety of subjects including the elements of art, historical context, looking and talking about art, engaging visitors, touring with children, and more. Docent-led tours are offered at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday starting one week after each exhibition opens. |

The Carole Reynolds Art Research LibraryThe Carole Reynolds Art Research Library seeks computer-literate volunteers to help out on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. The library is located in the boardroom of the administrative offices on the upper level of the museum, and is professionally staffed by volunteers. There are over 5,000 books, many with a focus on California art and artists. There are also what are called “single artist files” in the executive director’s office, in the administration offices, and in the Graphics Study Room on the lower level. Some of those historical files date from the 1930s. Click here to access the library online. |

Special EventsVolunteer at the museum’s special events including artist talks, concerts, gala dinners, family days, art auctions, appraisal clinics, and more. Museum events provide various volunteer opportunities and can include working at the registration desk, helping with an art auction, selling raffle tickets, assisting the caterers, serving drinks, etc. Events at the museum are fun and festive, and you will get to work closely with other volunteers as well as the museum staff. This is a great area for volunteers who can only work in the evenings or on weekends. |

AdministrativeAssist our administrative staff in the office. The museum is looking for people who are computer literate and who are willing to do filing, help with mailings, and more. Assignments vary, and if you have a specific skill in a certain area, the volunteer coordinator will keep that in mind. For this area, you need to be available on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This volunteer position is ideal for high school students looking to fulfill community service hours for graduation. |

InternshipsLaguna Art Museum currently offers unpaid internships on a year-round basis for college students or recent college graduates. Although interns are assigned to a specific department, Laguna Art Museum endeavors to expose its interns to the complete inner-workings of the museum. Thus interns will participate in various projects interdepartmentally and have the opportunity to actively observe and participate in many areas of the museum’s operations. |
