Please note that docent-led tours last one hour, however, visitors may continue enjoying the exhibit after the guided tour. Docent tours are by appointment only. The museum recommends that you book your tour two weeks in advance to reserve the date and time that works best for you an your group. Walk-in Tours with Docents
Walk-in tours led by experienced docents feature highlights from the museum’s current exhibitions. These tours begin at 11:00 a.m. in the museum lobby on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays beginning one week after an exhibition opens. No reservations are necessary, but please notify the tour program coordinator if you are bringing a group of ten or more. Tours are free for museum members and free for non-member with museum admission.
For each exhibition, Laguna Art Museum offers interactive school tours for all grade levels free of charge. Tours are facilitated by trained docents and are designed to let students be active participants in the process of looking at, learning about, and enjoying art. The education department consults closely with teachers to ensure that thematic tours enhance classroom learning and support curriculum objectives. Whenever possible, the museum also offers an art-making activity in conjunction with a tour.

Self-guided groups are welcome, but please make a reservation in advance for large groups to ensure accessibility to gallery spaces. Self-guided groups must provide one chaperone for every ten children and are required to stay together at all times. For ideas on preparing your group for museum visits, please contact our Tour Director. Reservations are required one week in advance of your visit.
Art Detective Game
Laguna Art Museum offers the popular “Art Detective Game” for children ages 12 and under, whose admission to the museum is also free. The game is designed like a scavenger hunt with questions and clues relating to the museum’s various exhibitions, and creates unique opportunities for children to discuss the art on display with their parents. Each question engages the child’s visual thinking with fun and educational questions. Inquire at the museum front desk to receive game questions (it’s free to participate). After completing, return to the front desk and receive an Art Detective reward!
