Patssi Valdez

Patssi Valdez was born in Los Angeles, California in 1951. She is a founding member of Asco, an LA-based art collective active from 1972 to 1987, which was primarily concerned with protesting socioeconomic and political problems affecting the Chicano community in the United States. Valdez expressed solidarity with the feminist movement and other social concerns through her work in performance art, installations, and photography. Since the 1980s, she has turned towards the painting, and her colorful and vibrant works capture the life and energy of Los Angeles.
