Roland Reiss
b. 1929
Roland Reiss, born in Chicago, Illinois, is a Los Angeles-based artist who works primarily in painting and sculpture. He gained prominence in the art world during the 1970s and 1980s through his miniature tableau sculptures. Reiss describes his own work as “energy fields and spaces in which colors and forms generate expressive visual experience.” Besides working as an artist, he also works as an educator, having taught at UCLA, the University of Colorado, and Clarement Graduate University. And since the 1990s, he has turned his attention towards abstract painting.
