What's It All About?

Join Curatorial Fellow Jean Stern as he discusses the California Impressionist Style and examines the
principal painters in California between 1890 and 1930. Mr. Stern presents a brief and concise narrative
of this period of American Impressionism and discusses the leading painters of the style. The lecture
features archival photographs of each artist and shows several examples of their works.

These artists include Franz A. Bischoff (1864-1929), Benjamin C. Brown (1865-1942), Colin Campbell
Cooper (1856-1937), John Marshall Gamble (1863-1957), Anna Hills (1882-1930), Edgar Payne (1883-
1947), Granville Redmond (1871-1935), Guy Rose (1867-1926), Donna Schuster (1883-1953), Marion
Kavanagh Wachtel (1876-1954), and William Wendt (1865-1946) as well as several others.
