Author and critic Peter Clothier invites participants to spend a full hour in front of a single work of art in an online presentation. The work selected for tonight’s program is James Strombotne’s 1960 painting Laguna Beach, from the museum’s permanent collection.
Clothier is an internationally-known writer, speaker, and creative consultant who specializes in writing about contemporary art and artists, including the popular “Slow Looking: The Art of Looking at Art.” He has given talks for TEDx Fullerton, UC Santa Barbara, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Portland Art Museum, and many other venues.

To celebrate Pride Month, join the Laguna Art Museum for a night to pay homage to Laguna’s bygone gay bars like the famed The Boom Boom Room. Fred Karger’s documentary Save the Boom will be screened in the museum’s galleries, and then let the dancing begin with DJ SoulFire!
