Exhibit Overview
The museum’s collection is rich in drawings and prints by the renowned Los Angeles modernist Frederick Hammersley (1919-2009). This is largely thanks to the donation of thirty-eight of his works on paper by the Frederick Hammersley Foundation in 2014. The works range from casual studies from life to carefully composed abstractions. Hammersley was part of the same artistic circle as Helen Lundeberg, and the museum’s large-scale retrospective of Lundeberg’s work provides an opportune moment to show for the first time the bulk of its Hammersley holdings.
The exhibition will be shown on the museum’s upper level.
Support for the exhibition was generously provided by the Frederick Hammersley Foundation.
