Francis De Erdely: Focus on the Figure

This lecture, featuring guest curator Alissa Anderson Campbell, will explore why Francis De Erdely consistently painted portraits and figurative work, even during a period where abstraction was the favored style in America. While De Erdely’s technique evolved and changed throughout his career, he was committed to the figure as a way of addressing social and political issues of the period.

Artist Panel: 2022 LCAD MFA’s

Join seven Master of Fine Art graduates from Laguna College of Art + Design for a panel discussion about their work and their group show Outlook/Insight: The LCAD Effect. Become acquainted with these artists as they complete this milestone in their education and present a selection of their work to the public. Artists include Peter Clarke, LinHui Ding, Mike Lee, Jill Maytorena, Kelley Mogilka, Ray Vargas, and Mason Williams. The panel will be moderated by Peter Zokosky, Chair of MFA Drawing/Painting at LCAD.

Lit to Life at LAM: Carmela Full of Wishes

Bring literature to life during a participatory story time that will have you making and moving! On the fourth Saturday of each month, we’ll craft a storytelling experience inspired by a museum artwork or exhibition to foster children’s understanding of art’s role in their lives. This month will feature Carmela Full of Wishes by Matt de la Peña, with a self-portrait activity that showcases our dreams, wishes, and values.
